Photo Manipulation and Ethics

A. What are some of the main points you read about in the website above regarding manipulating images?
That when you manipulate a photo, it comes with a high price. It could go terrible wrong and it would also spread false news around when people do it. It allows others to believe in the photos that were manipulated instead of looking at the actual photo they had took before they were editing it.

B. What is the philosophy of newspapers like the Washington Post and the New York times regarding image
manipulation?
The New York Times and the Washington Post photojournalists are required to turn in all of their proofs as well as their final portfolio in order for their photographs to be used by the newspapers. Today the photographers have strict guidelines on how to shoot and edit their photographs.

C. What do you think are acceptable things you could do to an image and not cross the line unto an unethical manipulation?
You could probably get away with cropping a image if you do it well enough to where people won't tell if you did it or not. But anything otherwise would be considered unethical manipulation so it wouldn't be acceptable. Simple things too such as blemish reduction and color modification which can change the original photo or the flow of one too. People need to be able to see the original version and be able to display their own feelings or thoughts towards it.
