Brassai (Gyula Halasz) is a well known photographer around the world. He was born on September 9, 1899 in Brașov Romania, to a hungarian father and a armenian mother. At age 3 he had moved to Paris, France for a year while his father, who is a professor, was working at Sorbonne. When he was younger he studied painting and sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest before he had joined the army. Also in 1924 he had moved to Paris to spend the rest of his life there. While he was there he was working as a journalist and picked up on doing photography to use for his journalism. That's when he created his first book with his photos in it, it was named "Paris de nuit" (Paris by night). After that album he created a book called "Pleasures of Paris" which gave him fame and made him a well known person (international fame). And became the author of seventeen books and many other articles as well.
