Landscape

1. Where is one place on the internet you might go to better prepare yourself for the location you are shooting at.
Google maps or even google earth because it can show you different landscape views of that place. So you can get a better idea of what to expect from the terrain or the place from higher up and such.

2. What is one app you might download to help you when trying to pick the best angle to take landscape photos?
Google maps can help with the different angles since some of them are even from the higher view.

3. What is the biggest problem shooting with a zoom or telephoto lens?
The biggest problem shooting with a zoom or telephoto lens is making the scene seem more simplified depending on how distant the subject is from the lens/camera.

4.Instead of using the HDR method you learned in my class, what is another technique the website suggest would be acceptable for compensating for sky and ground?
You can take two separate shots with one having the sky exposed along with brighter areas. Then the other would be the land and darker areas. Other then that there is the ND grad filter which captures the detail in both the sky and the landscape.

5. List three things you should always carry in case of bad weather.
A strong, waterproof plastic bag so you can quickly cover the camera if it starts to rain. Cleaning cloths for the lens glass and filters, along with a microfibre towel for drying off the camera body and lens.

6. Why would pre-scouting help you when shooting?
It can help you know the area before hand and when it is a good time to take a photo in the area instead of waiting all day for the perfect or almost perfect photo.

7. Is subject or composition more important in landscape photography, WHY?
Composition is more important in landscape photography because it is what makes the photo whole and more in depth. It allows there to be a strong landscape instead of a boring one. It is essential to this type of photography.

8. What is the suggested procedure to create simple, yet striking images?
You decide which part of the scene is essential to the composition and include other elements on the main subject one at a time. Then check if all the elements of the scene work together and if the main element is still what your eye is drawn to.

9. Why black and white?
It can produce a very different result compared to the pictures in color. It takes on a different approach to produce the final image.

10. Why would you want to go back to a location you have already been?
To learn more about how the lighting and weather combine to lend a different look to the landscape.

11. Find three landscape images that you like and post them with this blog.
