American Soldier

A. I believe this is the most powerful image from the pictures in the Denver Post because it shows what Fisher and his squad had to go through when they were doing their first big exercise. During it they were hit by a improvised explosive device which if didn't go well, would have killed half of the squad.

B. The images work together because it tells us how Fisher became a part of the military and what made him chose to join it. It shows what type of drills and what type of people he met while there. But before that he was looking for a fight which made him come to the conclusion of joining in and letting his family know about it. They threw him a goodbye party before he had went.

C. How do the captions enhance the photographs?

It gives us a summary of what was happening in the photos if we weren't to look at it or don't know what it exactly happening. It could tell us more then what the picture itself can tell us from just looking at it.

D. Ian Fisher was looking for a fight, so he decided he wanted to join the military. After he decided what he wanted to do he told his parents and they threw him a goodbye party since they won't see him for a while. He then had to get checkups to make sure he was eligible to join the military. Once that was over his father decided to wait for the recruiter to take Ian away. Once he says his goodbyes, he started his training which was tough. They did many drills and had to get used to different weather types for any situation that could happen. But even though it was hard for him, all of it payed off and he got the glory he wanted.

E. The verbs are written in present tense when Ian is the main subject of the photos. I believe it's because the people who wrote the Denver post wanted us (the readers) to know what happened at that exact moment the photos were taken. Make it seem like we were actually there (not really, but kinda)

F. Break down the captions:

1. The sentences on average are about 3 sentences long.

2. The first sentence of the captions are mainly about the what is happening in the photo and who was there while it happened. Or the time it happened at.
3. The second sentence tell us what they are doing and what is being said.
4. Some of them have third sentences, the ones that do can tell us the aftermath of what happened in the photo or situation that was happening.
5. There is some captions that have a quote in it.
6. Not really unless you consider it still mentioning what was said in that situation or picture/time

G. I think it's possible to tell a complete story with just photos and captions because it is all in the order, so we will know when it happens. Plus the captions tell us what happened during that point of time which kinda gives us a little summary of what happened in that part of the article.

H. Well because in the story it tells us also from other peoples point of views as well. Which the captions can show us every single thing that has happened. There is most likely something in the story that is important and is not mentioned in the captions throughout the story.

Ethics in Fashion Photography

1.Made her lips bigger, moved her head up, lowered her eyes, made her hair look longer, made her eyes bigger, made her head smaller and more framed.

2.Made her eyes bigger and extended her head up, made her legs longer and made her skin brighter as well. They made her stomach skinnier and rose her shoulder a bit up and move her nose a tiny bit making it look straighter. Also the made her hair brighter in color.

3.  They made the pizza slimmer and changed the color of the cheese to make it look the shade of a human. Then the burnt parts of the pizza they used for hair, and eyes. Also they got rid of the tone to make it lighter and extended the parts of the body to make more of a triangle like shape. The bikini was extended, and merged to make the pepperoni's of the pizza.

4. No because it allows us to see ourselves differently and we will end up constantly comparing ourselves to the picture. That gender that they edited to look "better" will make others feel that, that is the expectation of what you should look like. It could put other people down and make them want to change themselves so they could fit into society.

5. It would confuse people on what is real and what is not in this world. Seeing that you can make a pizza into a model is just crazy in my opinion. Also every gender would have high expectations that they need to meet so they won't be judged.

6. I would say if something in the photo looks misplaced or they don't have the right position or angle then they could change it to what they want them to look like. Well figure wise, not shape or face wise.

7. I would say fashion photography promotes what you could wear and what it looks like on certain body types while photojournalism is more in depth and explains why photos turn out that way or how it was created and what they used to make it look like that.

8. They all relate to things that each and everyone of us know. Like it is all created from stuff that we were taught or what we can think of with our imaginations from things we have already saw. It affects the ethical practice of each because it makes each photography type less different and less hard to learn or even practice if you decide to.

9. To show us that photoshop is used in everyday things and also what you can do with photoshop and how much it affects the media.

10. I would believe because most guys can just work out and look good with different lighting or angling. While for women it is harder to have everything about you look good. Because one thing for a girl make look good but their could also be another thing about you that is not the best. As time changed the expectations for girls get higher and higher making it harder for girls to accept or even change themselves to fit that expectation because it takes time. So instead they could edit it to were it is "acceptable" for people to look at or what they expect.

FUNNY CAPTIONS

1.  I was trying to change the channel but it's not working. Earlier my grandkids gave me this weird remote that has a wristband, which is what i've been using, how nice of them!

I have been going to this place that has a lot of bushes. The other day I was so confused because it seems like my garden grew bigger then I did.

I wonder if they put this cake in the oven? It's still better then getting a melted cake like I did last year.

Mural Project Review

1. Think of at least three ideas you have about what your team could take photos of, that are in the same theme? Be creative, but be realistic. You will be shooting OFF campus, and every member of your team will need to be able to take similar photos or whatever you decide to do as a group.

~Music

~Art related things
~Nature (animals or plant related things)

2. You will be using the school cameras or your own similar camera. You will need to shoot in Manual. What are three things you will have to think about when you are out shooting?

~if the camera is in focus or not

~Using the rules of photography (like rules of thirds, simplicity....)
~Seeing if their is any unwanted people or things in the photo (anything that can ruin the photo)

3. Although we have always done this assignment as a paper/printed product. I am interested in being able to show off these images/creations/murals online. What are some ideas you have on how to get these pieces onto the internet? List three ideas and how you would suggest to your team this second product gets created.

~Have someone share the photos so others can see it

~Have it displayed so people can tell who they know about it
~ Post it on a website and show some people it

Boulevard du Temple

1. I picked this photo because I love the scenery itself. It is very gorgeous and beautiful in my opinion. I also like how the edges of the photo looks like its burnt out or even faded into darkness. That's the reason why I picked this photo.
2. This photo is about how the person who had made this photo had developed the fixed image using chemicals. Since he used the chemicals, anything he tries to do to the photo is going to be permanent. Whenever he makes a mistake he would have to either start over or try to cover it up by using even more chemicals.
3. The boulevard du temple was meant for recreation and walking. It was said to be very fashionable and popular. After a certain amount of time, the place was renamed to boulevard du crime.

Behind the Gare Saint-Lazare

1. I picked this photo because I liked the way the ground is reflecting what the person in the floor is doing. But it's hard to tell if he is running on water or it was edited. But that is the reason why I picked this photo.
2. The photographer who took this photo loves to combine both speed and instinct. He is especially good for perfect timing. So when he saw a man leaping over a puddle of water. He looked through the fence and took the photo at what he though was the perfect moment. He had never saw anything more perfect then using both instinct and speed in one photo. He was proud of what this photo turned out to be.
3. Cartier, the photographer of this photo to the right, mainly takes photos of portraits and scenes. While taking photos around the world he often believes in the "perfect moment" when taking his photos. He likes to perfectly time what he thinks might turn into a good photo.

The Hand of Mrs. Wilhelm Röntgen

1. I picked this photo because I was curious on how this photo is on the most influential photos album on the website. I'm guessing the person who's hand in this photo either had something that no one else had in between her bones or she was very important. That is the reason why I picked this photo.

2. This photo is of a woman named Anna Bertha but was taken by her husband named Wilhem when he took the first medical x-ray. When other people saw this picture it has meant life. For Anna she said that saw saw her death when she had first glimpse it
3. Wilhelm Roentgen was the first person to discover the possibility of using electromagnetic radiation to create what we now know as the x-ray. The picture he took of his wife's hand is the first photo ever token with the first x-ray he has every made. The giant dark spot on the hand in the photo is supposed to be the ring he gave her from when they had gotten married.

4. Picture that catches my eyes~

He doesn't have any other photos that he took. The only one he has is of his wife's medical x-ray photo. That's why there is no photo posted.

Moonlight: The Pond

1. I picked this photo because I liked the way the pond looked. The photo seems pretty and well token in my opinion. That's why I had picked it.
2. The person who made/took this photo had the intention for others to see it and question if it was a painting or a picture. It had turned out that this was both of them. He added some touches to the photo with the aim of pictorialism.
3. The person who took this photo wanted to influence other photographers of his time to understand what he means by "altering photos was no different than choosing when and where to click the shutter. Even though he abandoned pictorialism, his movements influenced can be seem by any other photographer who seeks to create scenes.
